Dojo Fees and Contract Costs Explained
Read Dojo’s published pricing bands alongside your equipment, software, integration and contract requirements.
The short answer
Dojo publishes a blended rate for one annual-turnover band and offers custom pricing for larger businesses. Your full cost also depends on equipment and optional plans. Match the actual written offer to your card mix, trading pattern and EPOS requirements.
In this guide
What Dojo currently publishes
Dojo’s pricing page lists 1.2% blended processing for businesses below £100,000 annual card turnover. Above £100,000 it describes custom pricing, with a 12-month fixed option or 30-day rolling option. It also separates hardware choices and Essential or Plus software plans.
Treat those as the published categories, not confirmation of your eligibility. Ask which band applies if you are close to the boundary, how turnover is assessed and what happens if sales grow. Confirm the payment channels and card types covered by your agreement.
Hardware and integration questions to resolve
A single countertop terminal, several portable devices and a combined order-and-payment setup are different purchasing decisions. Request quantities, ownership or rental terms, replacement arrangements and any connectivity charges in writing.
Dojo describes integration with supported EPOS systems. That does not establish compatibility with your exact version or configuration. Get confirmation from the EPOS supplier, including any integration fee, installation charge and responsibility for support.
- Does the quoted device handle the way staff take payment?
- Are table payments, tips, refunds and reconciliation supported as required?
- What happens if the till connection fails?
- Does adding another location or terminal change fixed charges?
Illustration: processing is only part of the bill
Assume an eligible business takes £5,000 a month and uses the published 1.2% processing rate. Processing would be £60 monthly. Add a fictional £35 combined monthly equipment and service allowance, and the modelled total becomes £95, or £1,140 over twelve months.
The £35 is an illustration, not a Dojo quotation. Replace it with the actual hardware and service charges on a consistent VAT basis. If your current equivalent setup costs £120 monthly, the modelled running-cost difference is £25. A £300 switching cost would use up twelve months of that difference.
Read the full agreement before switching
- Record the commencement date, minimum term, notice period and renewal method for each agreement.
- Confirm which prices are fixed and what circumstances allow a change.
- Check any minimum bill, optional plan, additional device or integration charge that applies to your offer.
- If an exit-cost contribution is offered, obtain eligibility, evidence requirements, payment timing and exclusions.
- Keep the old supplier’s confirmed final liability separate from any promised reimbursement.
These are questions to ask, not a claim that every charge applies. A monthly price does not by itself prove a monthly cancellation right.
When is Dojo worth comparing?
Include it in a shortlist when its supported hardware and integrations match how you trade. Assess the operational fit through a demonstration using your own sale, refund and end-of-day routines, then compare the complete quote.
For two offers, use the Dojo versus takepayments worksheet. Use the calculator’s card-group option where processing rates vary. Add all fixed charges and transition costs so the calculator reports the financial difference for your stated assumptions.
Common questions
Does every Dojo customer pay 1.2%?
No. That published rate is attached to a specified annual-turnover band. Your accepted agreement and eligibility determine the actual charges.
Can I keep my existing EPOS system?
Possibly. Ask both suppliers to confirm support for your exact system, version and required functions, including integration costs.

Business profiles are fictional. Examples either use the explicitly identified published tariff or clearly labelled hypothetical prices. They are not customer results, market averages or personalised provider quotations. Unless stated otherwise, they use a consistent VAT basis and include only the costs listed. Provider prices, eligibility and terms can change. Check your written agreement before deciding.
Our guides explain costs and comparison methods. They do not rank the whole market or claim hands-on product testing. Source links are references, not a claim of partnership. Read the calculation method and limitations, or about the service.
