Payment & EPOS Providers

Explore eleven providers, understand where they fit and find the questions to ask before requesting a quote.

These are editorial profiles linked to our existing cost guides. Providers appear alphabetically, with links to their own information. A listing does not mean the provider is an EPOS Savings partner, an endorsement or a whole-market recommendation.

Dojo

Card terminals and integrated payments

Dojo offers card machines, connections to compatible EPOS systems, online checkout and payment links. Its integrated payment options include counter and table service, making the connection to your existing till an important part of the enquiry.

Lightspeed Restaurant

Restaurant EPOS and integrated payments

Lightspeed Restaurant combines hospitality point-of-sale software with payment and operational tools. Our existing guide focuses on Restaurant, so it should not be treated as a quotation or feature assessment for a different Lightspeed product.

What to check: Specify tills, handhelds, kitchen screens, sites and required integrations. Request current UK pricing for the exact plan, licences, hardware, implementation and payment agreement. Confirm which features cost extra.

PayPal

Online checkout and business payments

PayPal offers business checkout for online sales alongside its wider payment products. Our cost guide focuses on UK online business payments, where the checkout product, transaction type and customer location can affect the comparison.

What to check: Identify the specific PayPal product in your proposal. Compare domestic and international transactions, currency conversion, refunds and any separate ecommerce platform charges. If you also need an in-person setup, ask for its own hardware and processing costs.

Shopify Payments

Payments within the Shopify platform

Shopify Payments works within Shopify for online sales and, with supported hardware, in-person payments through Shopify POS. The payment service and the store or POS software should be costed together for the functions your business needs.

What to check: Include the Shopify subscription, any additional POS plan, hardware and apps. Check the rates for your plan and payment types, and whether choosing a third-party payment provider would add platform transaction charges.

Square

Card payments, POS software and online sales

Square combines payment acceptance with point-of-sale software and options for selling online. It offers hardware and software choices for different ways of trading, so start by identifying the equipment and paid features your business would actually use.

What to check: Separate in-person, online and manually entered payments in your comparison. Add hardware, any paid software plans and location-specific requirements. Check that your stock, bookings or hospitality workflow is supported by the selected plan.

SumUp

Card readers, POS tools and online payments

SumUp offers card readers, Tap to Pay, point-of-sale products and online payment tools such as payment links. Its published pricing includes pay-as-you-go and subscription options, which should be compared against the same sales pattern and required features.

What to check: Use eligible card turnover when comparing a subscription with pay-as-you-go. Include the reader, POS software and other services you need. Check online payment charges separately and include quieter months rather than relying only on your busiest month.

takepayments

Card machines, EPOS and remote payments

takepayments offers card machines, POS systems and online and telephone payment options. Its website explains that card processing requires a separate contract with an acquiring bank, so the complete arrangement may involve more than one agreement.

What to check: Identify who supplies each service and who you pay. Request all equipment, processing, software and support charges, plus the term and cancellation conditions for each agreement. Confirm any integration with the till you already use.

WooPayments

Payments within WooCommerce

WooPayments is a payment solution integrated with WooCommerce. Assess processing alongside the hosting, maintenance and extensions required to operate your online shop, rather than treating the payment tariff as the entire ecommerce budget.

What to check: Check business eligibility, payment methods, international transactions, conversion and refunds for your setup. Identify how fees and any tax appear in your account, and avoid counting the same website costs in two places.

Worldpay

Merchant payment services and card acceptance

Worldpay offers in-person and online payment services for small businesses, including card machine options. The product, sales channel and agreement in the quotation matter more to a cost comparison than the provider name on its own.

What to check: Ask for a complete quotation covering processing, equipment, online gateway or integration charges where applicable. Confirm settlement timing, support, contract length and exit terms, and identify any separate supplier involved in your EPOS setup.

Compare the full setup

A card payment provider, an online gateway and an EPOS system can perform different jobs. Some suppliers combine them; others connect separate products. Check which company supplies, supports and bills for every part of your proposed setup.

Prepare one brief for every supplier

  • How you trade: in-person, online or telephone sales, locations, seasonality and typical transaction size.
  • What must work: your existing till, stock system, website, bookings, accounting and reporting.
  • Every cost: processing, hardware, software, integration, support, refunds and any relevant international charges.
  • The agreement: contract length, notice, renewal, equipment ownership and costs of leaving.

Use the provider quotation checklist, then enter complete figures into the free comparison calculator. The calculator compares what you enter; it does not search providers or choose one for you.

How this directory is maintained

This edition covers eleven providers with dedicated EPOS Savings cost guides, including payment services and EPOS software. Profiles summarise public UK product information and give practical questions for a quotation. We have not scored providers, tested every product or verified a price for your business.

Features, eligibility and commercial terms can change. Follow the official sources and obtain a current written offer. A directory listing is separate from any commercial relationship. Any paid introduction or other relevant commercial arrangement would be explained before you chose to use it.
