Lightspeed Restaurant Costs Explained
Plan a Lightspeed Restaurant budget around licences, payment processing, kitchen tools, integrations and implementation.
The short answer
Request a current UK quotation for the exact restaurant setup you need. Software, licences, payment processing, equipment and add-ons all affect the result. A price for the first licence is not a complete budget for several service points and a kitchen.
In this guide
Start with a UK quotation and clear inclusions
Lightspeed’s restaurant pricing material describes plan tiers, licence allowances, integrated payments and optional integrations. Our source check did not establish a consistent sterling tariff suitable for a UK price table, so this guide does not present a confirmed UK starting price.
Ask for a dated GBP quotation showing VAT treatment, billing frequency, term and included licences. Specify Restaurant rather than Retail, and identify the exact product and package. Treat the worked budget below as a planning example only.
A useful quotation tells you what you can operate on opening day, what costs extra and what happens when you add another service point.
Count the whole restaurant setup
| Requirement | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Till and handhelds | How many simultaneous service devices are included and what an extra licence costs. |
| Kitchen | Screens, software licences, mounting and order routing. |
| Payments | Card devices, processing rates and any conditions linking payments to software pricing. |
| Integrations | Reservation, delivery, accounting, stock and hotel-system connections where required. |
| Implementation | Hardware setup, menu import, staff training and ongoing support scope. |
Ask whether an advertised feature is included in your selected tier or requires an add-on. A comparison becomes unreliable if one offer includes the kitchen and another covers only a till.
Illustrative restaurant cost model
Fictional figures, not Lightspeed prices. Assume £1,200 equipment, £300 implementation, £150 monthly software and licences, £40 integrations and £390 monthly processing.
The running cost is £580 monthly. First-year cost is £1,500 + 12 × £580 = £8,460. Over 36 months with unchanged assumptions, it is £22,380. VAT is excluded where applicable for this illustration; use a consistent basis for your own comparison.
An additional £50 monthly module would add £600 annually. At £25,000 monthly card turnover, a 0.2 percentage-point processing difference also equals £50 monthly. Software and payment prices therefore need to be considered together.
How to assess the value of restaurant features
Ask for a demonstration built around a busy service: modifiers, courses, split bills, tips, refunds and an end-of-day reconciliation. Check how changes flow from the menu to the till, handheld and kitchen.
Identify the tasks you expect a new system to reduce, then measure their current workload. Distinguish actual spending reductions from time released for other work. Saving ten minutes of administration does not automatically reduce wages or create the same amount of cash savings.
Confirm the contingency plan for an internet or device failure and who supports the hardware, software and payment connection. Ask how access to historical reports and data export works if you later leave.
Compare restaurant systems on one specification
Prepare a short requirements list with essential and optional features. Price the essential setup first, then show optional improvements separately. That makes a higher-priced package easier to assess on its merits.
Use our Epos Now and Lightspeed comparison to organise demonstrations and proposals. Enter the final fixed, processing and one-off costs in the calculator, and retain any future contractual obligations alongside the result.
Common questions
Why is there no confirmed Lightspeed UK starting price here?
Our source check did not establish a consistent sterling tariff. A current UK quotation with the exact plan and inclusions is the reliable basis for this comparison.
Does a subscription include every device and integration?
Check the selected plan. Licence allowances, hardware and optional integrations should be itemised in your quotation.

They are not customer results, market averages or personalised provider quotations. Unless stated otherwise, they use a consistent VAT basis and include only the costs listed.
